Keep going! Don't give up!

Sometimes I think being a professional person limits my creativity. I feel embarrassed to share this video, but it's part of the learning curve. It is part of the journey!

This is a note to myself more than anything. It's always daunting to change careers in order to pursue what you love. I have a myriad of interests, so I feel like I have ADHD. And that affects focus. Right now, the important thing is to KEEP MAKING VIDEOS!

Flying a drone over water

A year from now you may wish you had started today.” - Karen Lamb

Everyone recommends NOT flying over water when just starting out, but I did it anyway! I think when you're starting your foray into drone piloting, you need to take whatever opportunity you have to fly. I "wanted" to fly at the house, but it was in a restricted area. I happened to be in Miami, and used my trip to the Florida Keys as the perfect launching point. It was wide open.

Return to Home

In addition to the "hovering" feature, the other ESSENTIAL item DJI drones feature is the "Return to Home" button. When you're a newbie, it's VERY helpful to be able to press a button. It takes time to become accustomed to the positioning map. Sometimes it looks upside down!

“You don’t have to be great at something to start, but you have to start to be great at something.” - Zig Ziglar

The map in the lower left corner deserves your attention. Sometimes the drone flies away. And when it does, the easiest thing to do is to press the "Return to Home" button. However, sometimes the drone IGNORES that button! *gasp* In some cases, you have to maneuver the drone back home manually.

There is a little blue dot = where you are currently standing. There is an arrowhead. I prefer to "back that thang up," so I align the drone so it faces straight in line with the dot, and then reverse it to me. This works the best, I've found. That said, there is an argument for returning the drone facing forward so you can see where you're going. Dealer's choice. Once it's 100 feet away, you can hear it and make adjustments accordingly. #drones #videogallery #aerialvideography

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Photography was my hobby as a kid and it was really special because not everybody had a camera.  Or maybe they "had one," but I actually took photos and developed them.
